  • Anti-reflective coating, scratch resistant coating, anti-fog and UV lens treatments are options that enhance your vision and appearance, increase the durability of your eyeglasses and protect your eyes from the sun’s harmful rays.
The purpose of anti-reflective (AR) coating is to reduce reflection off of the lenses. In some bad cases, you might actually be able to see the reflection of your eye in the lens, obscuring your vision. Similar to a scratch-resistant coating, anti-reflective coating is made of a very hard thin film that is layered on the lens. Anti-reflective coating make your eyeglass lenses nearly invisible, while eliminating lens reflections that could cause glare.

UV coatings on prescription clear lenses are generally as effective as those on sunglasses. It is not the dark tint that is important, but the way the lenses are crafted which protect the eyes from ultraviolet radiation. Plastic lenses need to have a UV coating applied, while polycarbonate lenses can block UV rays without an additional coating. UV rays are often involved in the development of cataracts, eye-surface problems like pterygia and pingueculae, as well as macular degeneration. UV protection lenses may reduce your risk of developing one of these conditions.

We include UV coating and scratch resistant coating at no extra cost in all of our prescription eyewear.

  • Aspherics are ideal for strong prescriptions because they are flatter and thinner than other types of eyewear. They may also provide better vision than ordinary lenses and look better because they lessen farsighted eye magnification and nearsighted eye minification.

Bifocals and trifocals can come in many shapes, sizes, and configurations. Choosing the right bifocal or trifocal lenses for your needs may depend largely on whether you sit at a computer all day, work on automobiles, play golf, etc. Bifocal and other multifocal lenses are typically used when changes in activities may require use of additional focus or magnification.
