FDA Warning of blink Lubricating Eye Drops
The FDA issued a warning to consumers on Friday, October 27th, asking them not to buy or use specific blink lubricating eye drops from several companies, including Rugby, CVS Health, Rugby Rite Aid, Target, Velocity Pharma LLC, Leader (Cardinal Health), and Cardinal Health.
Twenty-six over-the-counter eye drops were found to be potentially harmful, potentially resulting in blindness in certain cases due to eye infections.
The goal of these goods is to be sterile. Ophthalmic medication products may be more dangerous for consumers. Because they circumvent some of the body’s natural defenses when administered to the eyes.
On October 25, 2023, the FDA advised that the producer of these items recall all batches after agency investigators discovered unhygienic conditions in the manufacturing facility and positive test results for bacteria from environmental sampling of the plant’s crucial medication production sections.
